Chris and I never really considered blogging before, but the distance between us and our loved ones necessitates a better window into our daily lives, especially with the latest addition to our little family.
Ezra now has a new companion- one he does not seem to care for currently. Ella Brooks arrived on November 14th, 2008. I awoke that morning

to regular contractions. I knew I was in early labor, but I had a regularly scheduled exam at the OB, so I decided to wait until my appointment before making any phone calls. Chris came with me to the appointment because an ultrasound was scheduled. We saw her head, her heart, her spine, hands and little feet. Everything measured perfectly. Near the end of the viewing, Chris asked the tech how much Ella Brooks weighed. She looked over at us and hesitantly informed us our "little" girl was measuring in at a whopping 10 pounds! I immediately laughed and cried. My hopes of delivering this baby naturally were met with the reality that EB was to come via C-section.
Thankfully, the

doctor on call was one of our favorites in the practice. She was very reassuring and encouraging. Chris and I entered into a surreal day as we drove home to pack for the hospital. We checked in and made our way to pre-op. Then we waited, all day, in fact. The surgery was scheduled for 5 pm, so we attempted to make ourselves comfortable, which is not an easy task in a hospital. Finally, at 5:45 the operating room was ready and so were we. They took me back to prepare for surgery while Chris waited to enter just before the procedure began.
Ella Brooks arrived at 6:30 pm. The C-section was surprisingly quick, and in no time I was face to face with our little girl. EB weighed in at 9 pounds 10 ounces- a big girl indeed. She was an angel from the start. Chris immediately fell in love and transformed into a proud daddy. I loved witnessing the joy in his eyes as he met his daughter.

In the month that has passed, we have fallen more and more in love with her. She is an amazing creature. We t

hank the Lord for this incredible blessing!
