10 Things I LOVE About You

After spending the last five days in Jacksonville with my family (which was wonderful) I am happy to be back home. As I was driving back I kept thinking about all the things I love about this place. Here are a few that came to mind, although I am sure I could come up with a hundred more.

1. This guy:

2. The view from my front porch and back patio.

3. The temperature. In Jacksonville, the humidity makes you actually want to become a grease spot on the ground. In Asheville, I can actually breathe when I get into my car even when it's been sitting in the afternoon sun.

4. Shindig on the Green. Is there anything better to do on a Saturday night?

5. The fact that I live in a foody's paradise. Table, Zambras, Rezaz's, La Paz, Early Girl, Usual Suspects. . . I mean, really? How does one choose?

6. Chacos. No one has even heard of Chacos in Jacksonville. I had a hard time convincing them that Birkenstocks are, in fact, "Jesus sandals," not Chacos. Weirdos.

7. Good tasting water.

8. My sweet little house with it's sweet little yard and tiny little herb garden.

9. The community of believers who have created a place that regularly provides me with small glimpses of heaven. What a precious thing to call you friends!

10. This guy:

Ok, so he's on here twice. But, I must say, I really missed him while I was away.

Dorothy was right, there is no place like home!

  2. Well I didn't even know you were gone but I'm glad you're back. Good to see you last night! Not to knock your hometown but I don't think I'd be up for Jacksonville in mid-July myself. My hometown is not much better as far as heat, humidity and crowds go, though. I love that feeling when you first see the mountains on the way home from a long trip. So great.

I love table too. That is one of my favorites. Oh how I miss going out to dinner...
