Mobility

Isn't it amazing how simple it is to move from point A to point B? It is such a easy action that we take it for granted. Yet with a wee one in the house it has become very apparent how challenging movement can be. Ella Brooks works so hard to get her fingers to pick up a piece of fruit. She has to concentrate to get her body to roll over. It takes all of her energy to reach out to grab a nearby toy. I am reminded many times throughout the day how something so simple and fundamental as mobility actually has to be learned and practiced over and over again until it becomes second nature.

We had an incredible mobility event occur yesterday. EB received a new toy yesterday- a little bug car. She loves it, but it keeps rolling away from her and she hasn't figured out how or why that happens. Here's the culprit:

Cute, isn't she?

Well, little Miss Bug established quite a challenge for the presh-head by rolling out of reach. EB was not satisfied by leaving Miss Bug all alone, forlorn in the distance. So EB did what any enterprising soul would, she retrieved the bug. That's right! EB mustered up all of her strength and army crawled to her new toy.

Chris and I had a tender moment of pride and joy which quickly shifted to a reality check. Our little girl has entered a new phase. A busy phase. A phase that changes our still and peaceable kingdom. It's amazing how quickly determination sets in and changes everything! EB is proud of her accomplishment and wanted me to share this with you:

We missed filming little Miss Bug, but figured the green ring would do. EB is thrilled with her new skill. And we are off to childproof.

  1. Yea! Go, Ella Brooks! Now the craziness begins - you won't ever be able to leave her alone on the floor again ;)!

  2. That was really cute! And a great reminder at how blessed we are to be able to move around as easily as we do.
