First Fruits

About three months ago, Chris and I spent a muggy afternoon working in our yard attempting to create what we'd longed for all these years. Here's a visual reminder:

We braved rain clouds, we staved off angry ants, and denied our inner desires for our Sunday afternoon naps. All this in the hopes that our garden would be good to us.

I am happy to report that is has been and more. We have used lots of basil (we even made our own pesto). My favorite is the rosemary. No, it's the peppermint. No, wait. I just love the chives.

Herbs are great because they provide for us immediately. It's the veggies that take their sweet time to make themselves useful. And our tomatoes are certainly no exception. After great anticipation we finally had some fruit on our vine. I picked three tomatoes two days ago.

Aren't they lovely little jewels? They are sitting in our kitchen window preparing themselves for their grand presentation later this week.

I'll be sure to report back to you about their performance!
