It's All Happening

Isn't the ebb and flow of every day life an interesting thing? We go through routines that seem endless and we crave a change in the monotony. Yet when that change arrives we thrash about in the waves and wonder why in the world things had to shift. Aren't we funny creatures that way?

There is much happening in the Maslin household. This week in particular is a busy one by our recent standards. It includes, but is not limited to:

1. Placing an offer on a piece of land in Black Mountain. If our bid is accepted then we will . . .

2. Place our house on the market. That will probably not happen this week, but will occur in the next couple of weeks. And that is a very stressful thing as anyone knows who has recently attempted to sell their home. Then we have to. . .

3. Find a floor plan Chris and I can both agree on. So far that is going semi-well. We're on our 45th round of rock-paper-scissors. I think we can work it out. By we I mean, I think I can get my way.

On a completely different note. . .

4. EB's 9 month appointment is this week. I just love filling out the questionnaire asking about the milestones she has met. In the past these milestones have included things that are pretty ridiculous. I am guessing that this time they will ask if she is walking, talking and riding a bike yet. I always feel like she is behind the curve, when in reality she is a normal little girl. I think.

5. Ella Brooks has her major procedures on Wednesday. I received the confirmation phone call this morning telling us to report to Mission's Outpatient Clinic at 7 AM. That's right, 7 AM. It's like these people forget that they are working with a 9 month old. A 7 AM appointment means a 6:30 AM departure from Swannanoa, which means a 5:45 AM wake up for mom and baby. Yay.

Oh, and she has to be sedated for the procedures. Just found that out. Also, a slightly stressful thing for mom and dad.

And to top it all off. . .

6. On Sunday, I make the trek to J-ville for a super quick visit with my parents. My sister and I are going down for a state-of-the-union of sorts. It's not going to be the usual beach/shopping/relax at home kind of trip this go 'round. Instead, it will be more like fact finding mission. My dad was recently in a car accident and we just need to be at home for a few days to help out.

So hello, busy week. I welcome you with open arms and bended knee. Please be kind to us. We are doing what we can to make you go by without a hitch.

  1. Wow. That is an intense week. I hope it goes well, especially Wednesday morning! How exciting about your possible purchase! Let me know how things go. Where is it? You can answer that question after your busy week is over.
