It looks like we are on our way to building a new home in Black Mountain. The land owner agreed to our bid Monday morning. We still have to close, but the land is basically ours. This is a scary and exciting and stressful place for us.
Getting the land is the great news, but now it is time to place our home on the market. We have done a lot of work in the five years we have lived here. As we prepare it for showing I have grown a little (ok, very) sentimental. This is the first place we moved into after getting married. We spent the hurricane-ridden August and September of 2004 painting the interior. We had our hands in the dirt during the fall of 2005 tilling the soil and planting perennials, bulbs and trees. Our anniversary present to one another in 2007 was a new deck and patio. And in the fall of 2008, our first baby was welcomed into her nursery where Chris painstakingly crafted a beautiful built-in bookcase. This house is our home making this a bittersweet time of anticipation.

I really don't know how I missed this post! I was looking for you guys to blog about your new land and I somehow missed it. Anyway, I am so excited for you guys but I totally know how hard it is to sell your first house together. We went through that last year and I still miss it every now and then. It will get easier, though, as you see your house being built and make new plans for it. I can't wait to hear about your new house plan! So excited for you Maslins
ReplyDeleteI ditto Niki that I don't know I missed this post either.. I had heard you were moving towards BMT but I was waiting on a blog post. I can also understand the heavy heart in leaving your home.. when my parents move to NC, they sold the only house I knew, 26 years in one home.. all our memories.. all my dad's sweat and back breaking updates and remodles.. as well as our memories as a family. It is bittersweet.. but never forgotten. And just think, you'll create new memories in your next home.. and build more, create more, decorate more.. and have lots more room to expland!!
ReplyDeleteYAY for new houses! We obviously need to talk soon. Love you friend.
